Originally posted by rocket2guns:For the first year of development we focused entirely on the "foundation" of the game. I'd rather have an early access developer with a loose public roadmap who is actually regularly delivering on content and bugfixes, than an early access developer with big promises on a public roadmap and little concrete guarantee to the end user that the product will come out as it is on paper.Ī press release is not a guarantee of the value of one's investment. If I was paying Rocketwerkz a monthly subscription fee, maybe I'd want more information. I have a right that more development of some kind should occur, because that's what I was promised in the early access terms. I am fine with the value that has been delivered to me for my $22.50 investment. If a roadmap item cannot be delivered on, should not be delivered because it just wasn't good or fun, or has to be delayed due to unforeseen problems, it breeds playerbase resentment.
TVTROPES WOLFENSTEIN 2 FULL
If you offer specifics it allows the playerbase to argue and behave as though they deserve full creative control over the product, and can also build unnecessary hype. Public roadmaps which are too concrete are a PR debacle in early access development. Personally I am fine with a nonspecific roadmap or limited information about upcoming content.

TVTROPES WOLFENSTEIN 2 FREE
Some poor sap gets a free ticket to flotsam Paradise and then gets marooned with a couple of supplies on a moon and ends up surviving to build an epic business/empire from the ashes of that tragedy. Or at least I would love a game that had that design. I mean, epically, I would build a base, get some AI people to work/defend it, build a ship and then explore like in star trek or something, come across some nice aliens and some bad ones, fighting, fixing, repairing my ship and building shipyards or other thigns to expand my empire. Otherwise what I see now, is that I build a factory of some sort, producing something for some reason we'll get to later but I'm the one that will have to go out and do all the mining (which isn't fun) just to bring it back to my factory?
TVTROPES WOLFENSTEIN 2 MANUAL
Manual tasks are okay at the start but as my "empire grows" the main character (me) shouldn't do the trival tasks I once did, that focus should shift. If something is going to try to destory it, I need something to defend it. Why am I building a factory and what meaningful attachment will I have to this base/system I create?įrom my POV, investing in building a base needs to mean something. I'm really enjoying the base building and I see crafting station, belts being added (or there already) and all that for industrial crafting but that kind of circles around to the purpose. who cares if I have an epic castle if no one sieges it and i survive? And building a base/castle/city of 1 is no fun, yay I have a castle, no one lives in or defends against me, and I defend er, the wild, wild deer of the forest. There need to be safe zones and areas that are not safe and all that griefing stuff and hosting and everything. All of those and Ark and others lack AI tointeract with and relying on people to populate a "server" isn't practical in reality. Is this going to be like Subnautica where we're stranded and we have to get off planet? Or No Man's Sky to explore a solar system or galaxy? Or will this be more like medival/space engineers which is similar in crafting?Įach does something nice in its own way but they seem to suffer the same challenges. If that is going to show up, please let me have an option to disable, I'd rather be the last human in the galaxy build barbies space dream base than more annoying alien bug things. I'm tired of alien bug things and those other tired tropes where creepy crawly. I like the concept of AI that can help me or i can interact with etc. Is this really going to be in game? I have mixed feelings if it is.

I remember coming across something about aliens.
